At West Texas Karate, we teach Ryukyu Kempo Karate. This is a classical style or "old way" of karate from Okinawa, Japan.
Kata: This is the basis for all karate training. It is a prearranged set of movements containing various strikes, blocks and grappling techniques.
Tuite Jitsu: (joint manipulation) Techniques from kata are used to restrain, control or disable an attacker.
Kyusho Jitsu: (vital points) This is the art of advanced striking applications found through kata training.
Bogu Kumite: (armored sparring) A rough and serious form of sparring. Dedicated students who have developed their skills can progress to this form of training.
Kobudo : (ancient warrior way) Ancient Okinawan weapons training, meant to augment the open-hand self defense education.
